Ain Shams University congratulates the Egyptian scientist Farouk El-Baz after renaming an asteroid by his name

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, deputies, faculty, staff and students congratulate the great international scientist Prof. Dr. Farouk El-Baz on the occasion of the launch of his name on an asteroid in space by the United Nations World Astronomy Association of the United Nations in recognition of his efforts with NASA.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and the Vice-Presidents of the University, faculty staff and students, congratulate the great scientist Prof. Dr. Farouk El-Baz on the launch of his name on the asteroid in space by the World Astronomy Association of the United Nations in recognition of his role and efforts with the US Space Agency NASA.

It is worth mentioning that Farouk El-Baz was born on January 2, 1938 in the city of Zagazig. He received a bachelor's degree in chemistry and geology from Ain Shams University. He obtained a master's degree in science and geology in 1961, and a doctorate in 1964. He then worked at NASA during the Apollo program. Ain Shams University honored him and awarded him an honorary doctorate at its annual scientific conference in 2018.
